Lately we have been honoring veterans for their service to our country. Meanwhile, the Department of Defense is planning to kill over 200 veterans each year ! These loyal
veterans have risked life and limb to serve the United States of America and have saved many lives. These veterans are military working dogs. "When they have reached the "end" of their
service life", says Tom Johnston, chairman for a group of determined war dog rescue advocates. "They will be shot". Some may mercifully die immediately, some will not. They
will suffer terribly, then die.
Johnston, of Louisville, KY, Linda Edwards of San Diego, CA, Mary Thurston of Austin, TX and Dr. William Pitney of Loa Angeles, CA are the spear points of the group that brought the
military's "euthanasia" policy to the attention of Representative Roscoe Bartlett, R-MD, who wrote and sponsored the house bill HR5314which is a moratorium on the killing of these brave heroes.
The quest to end the killing of Americas canine Soldiers was sparked by the plight of "Robby". an eleven year old explosives detection K-9 who became too arthritic to
work. Requests from his handler to adopt Robby were denied and now Robby is facing a death sentence, after all, he is considered "equipment". How barbaric !
If you honor Veterans and appreciate their service, dedication and sacrifices they have made for this country and if you love or have ever loved an animal, please help give these veterans
a voice and call or write and petition your political representatives to support HR 5314. An on-line directory to the US Senate can be found at: www.senate.gov/senators/index.cfm

For years we have provided rescued animals with loving care in our no-kill sanctuaries. We have spayed or neutered thousands of animals and found wonderful homes for many of the
rescues. We are willing to take some of these military K-9's to retrain for police work and/or guard dogs and loving family members - BUT, we need your help. Here is our wish list:
a: Land and buildings for no-kill rescue/adoption/retirement center.
b: Rescue & adoption vehicle.
c: Rescue equipment.
d: Crate - all sizes.
e: Towels and blankets.
f: Volunteers.
We recently completed the Percy Project and obtained bulletproof vests for our law-enforcement K-9's and have learned to love and respect these brave dogs, so we want to help all that we
are able to. You can leave donations at Dr. Powell's low-cost spay/neuter Clinic at Pony Village Mall in North Bend, OR or contact us at: redbear@uci.net
Thank you.
